WVU will host Louisville in crucial Big East series

West Virginia is host to Louisville in a crucial three-game Big East baseball series this weekend.
The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday, with the first game starting at 3 p.m. and broadcast nationally by XZ Radio. It’s “Dollar Day” at Hawley Field, with all tickets and select concessions available for $1 each.
Game three will be played at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Louisville (33-16, 13-8) is tied for fourth place in the standings. West Virginia (32-14, 11-10) occupies sixth place.
The Cardinals swept last year’s series in Louisville by scores of 4-3, 16-5 and 9-8. The Mountaineers are coming off an 0-3 series at St. John’s last weekend.
Chris Dominguez leads U of L at the plate with 53 runs, 74 hits, 14 home runs and 12 doubles. The third baseman also has a team-high 52 RBIs and is batting .363 with a .652 slugging percentage.
Left-hander Justin Marks (5-1, 2.26 ERA) will pitch the opener for the Cardinals.
Right-hander Zack Pitts (5-4. 4.35 ERA) will go in the second game.
Shortstop Tyler Kuhn continues to lead WVU with a 431 batting average. He has 85 hits, 64 runs and 31 extra-base blows.
Third baseman Vince Belnome is batting .404 with 61 RBIs, and freshman second baseman Jedd Gyorko has a .423 average.
Right-hander Josh Whitlock (7-4, 4.31 ERA) will go to the mound for the first game, with Matt Yurish (5-1, 3.90 ERA) hurling game two.
