North's Banker staying close to home

FAIRMONT — North Marion's Chase Banker didn't have to venture very far to get the ball rolling on his athletic future.

Banker, a dual-sport athlete at Noth Marion High School, has decided to walk on to the basketball team at Fairmont State this fall.

The North Marion swingman averaged 15.5 points, pulled down 7.0 rebounds, dished out 5.0 assists and swiped 2.0 steals per game for the Huskies during his senior season.

The decision to stay close to home, Banker said, was something that was always in the back of his mind.

As a walk-on, Banker hopes to work his way on to the court but in terms of his role on the team, he plans to help everyone get better by working as hard as he can.
