The leading scorer from Fairmont State’s men’s basketball team has chosen to transfer to a Division I school.
Stevie Browning, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Logan, has chosen to take his talents to Marshall University.
At Fairmont State, Browning averaged 16.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.73 steals for the Falcons last season.
Browning will have two years of eligibility left with the Thundering Herd and hopes to see the court soon.
“If I keep my faith in God and keep working hard, I’ll hopefully find myself playing quality minutes,” Browning said.
Browning joins a Marshall team which finished 11-22 last season and has brought in new coach in Dan D’Antoni.
It’s been said that D’Antoni has an interest in bringing in West Virginia natives and Browning fits that mold.
For Browning, playing Division I basketball was always a dream and now he’ll be able to reach that dream.
Marshall has not announced the move, pending the completion of the necessary paperwork.
