Vandals break in, damage Fairmont school

FAIRMONT — According to a press release from the Fairmont Police Department, two juveniles were arrested for breaking into the gymnasium at East Fairmont Junior High School.

The indicdent and arrests took place late Wednesday morning.

The suspects were seen leaving the gym when a person called Marion County 911 Communications Center and provided detailed descriptions of the suspects. Fairmont police officers quickly detained the suspects while other officers checked the gym, according to the release.

Officers found that the inside of the gym was vandalized, there was forced entry and fire extinguishers discharged.

The suspects are currently awaiting juvenile detention hearings on charges of breaking and entering and destruction of property before a Marion County Magistrate.
