Stingray swimmers to reunite

FAIRMONT — Swimmers will reunite July 19 at the 12th Street Pool in Fairmont.

Members of the Fairmont Aquatic Club Stingrays are holding a reunion after years of separation since the team dissolved in 1997.

Leigh Ann Hood, former member and reunion organizer, hopes the event will give people a chance to catch up on each other's lives and allow them to spend some more time together in the pool. They will also be able to meet each other's families and share memories.

"We'll probably do a few races and play some games that we used to play … People can bring their memorabilia if they have newspaper articles or pictures or whatever to share with people," said Hood, who swam from 1977 to 1988.

The event will be from 7:30-9:30 p.m. and is open to all former Stingray members and their families.

Admission is $5 per person or $10 per family to help pay for the pool rental and refreshments.

Those interested should RSVP on the Fairmont Aquatic Club Reunion event page on Facebook or by calling Leigh Ann Hood at 304-368-0523.
