JUST IN: McCullough's 9th-inning RBI lifts Fairmont over Elkins

PLEASANT VALLEY — Baseball is often called a boring sport if you don't understand the game but Tuesday night's contest at East Fairmont High School between Post 17 Fairmont and Elkins was anything but.

With the game deadlocked at seven runs apiece in the bottom of the ninth inning, Fairmont's Keegun McCullough stepped to the plate wit the bases loaded.

After being held to zero hits  the entire night, McCullough came through when it mattered, sending a shot into the right-centerfield gap and scoring Fletcher DeVaul from third for the 8-7 walk-off victory.

Fairmont tallied their eight runs on nine hits, including three hits from James Bolander, who also pitched the final 3.0 innings and picked up the win for Fairmont, striking out four Elkins' batters in the process. Bolander also had three of the team's RBIs.

Adding hits for Fairmont were Chris Petrucci (1-for-3), Johnny Kesling (1-for-3 with three RBIs), Bailey Mohr (1-for-2) and DeVaul (1-for-4).

Leading the way for Elkins was Kevin McDermott who went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
