Mike Garrison's tumultuous year as president of West Virginia University is coming to an end.

His last day on campus was Friday. His employment officially ends Sunday.

Garrison decided in June to step down after investigators concluded WVU had retroactively awarded a degree to Mylan Inc. executive Heather Bresch that she hadn't earned.

C. Peter Magrath took over as interim president on Aug. 1.

Garrison's chief of staff, Craig Walker, is also leaving the university.

WVU Board of Governors Chairwoman Carolyn Long thanked both men for helping with the transition.

Bresch is a longtime friend of Garrison's and the daughter of Gov. Joe Manchin.
