Betty Lee Hollen, of Fairmont passed away Saturday evening (Sept. 22, 2007) at the Kline Hospice House, Mt. Airy, Md.

She was born in Oak Hill, a daughter of the late Theodore F. and Blanche Burgess Baumgartner.

Mrs. Hollen was a homemaker and a graduate of Nitro High School and West Virginia University with a BS degree in botany and zoology. Mrs. Hollen was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fairmont where she served as a Deacon and Trustee as well as on various church committees. She was a past member of the Alderson-Broaddus College Board of Trustees and was active in the Fairmont Needle Guild, Home Gardeners, the Fairmont Field Club and the Field Club Ladies Golf Association, Miniature Club and various bridge clubs.

She loved to travel, especially to dangerous and exotic locations around the world. She was also an avid golfer and bridge player.

Survivors include a son, Donald E. Hollen II and wife Paula of Fairmont; daughter, Terri H. Eckard and husband Mike of New Market, Md.; three grandchildren, Donald E. Hollen III, James D. Eckard and Paige L. Eckard.

Mrs. Hollen was preceded in death by her husband, Don E. Hollen, past president of Monongahela Power Co., on May 24, 1989.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. in the Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Rd., Fairmont. The body will lie in state on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Fairmont. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Carl Gittings officiating.
