The election is over and hopefully all the craziness surrounding it will soon settle down. In West Virginia, outcomes were as expected, but in Marion County, there were a few surprises. Despite what side you are on, it is time to get behind our elected officials and support them as they get ready to govern our communities and state.
As I write this, COVID-19 cases are skyrocketing. Not only in our country, but in our state and county as well. We all know the holidays will be quite different for many of us. Large gatherings are not recommended and many families will follow social distancing guidelines which mean they will not be together. If you come from a big family like mine, it will not be easy. It will look and feel much different than anything I can remember. However, what we are giving up this year will hopefully help all of us in the future months to come and keep all our loved ones safe and healthy.
The Marion County Chamber of Commerce has many businesses that need a successful holiday season to survive. They are your mom and pops, locally-owned, non-franchised small businesses that, without our help, might not be here next Christmas. For that reason, the MCCC is announcing its SHOP SMALL….WIN BIG Holiday promotion.
Beginning with Small Business Saturday on Nov. 28, holiday shoppers have several ways to save and win from our member businesses. Each participating business will be giving away a $50 gift certificate, compliments of the Marion County Chamber of Commerce to one lucky shopper that shops with them on Small Business Weekend, Nov. 28-29. In addition, customers who bring in 5 receipts to the Marion County Chamber office, located at 110 Adams St, from participating shops dated for Nov. 28-29 (Small Business Weekend) will be entered into a drawing to win one of 10, $100 gift cards from member restaurants and related businesses. Receipts must be received by Dec. 2 to be eligible.
As an extra bonus throughout the month of December, the MCCC will be offering $50 gift cards for $25 from our retail members. Just watch our social media pages for the Gift Card Promotion of the Week.
We hope this not only helps our retail, restaurant & related member businesses, but also allow the shoppers of Marion County to have a chance to WIN by Shopping Small and supporting local!
Please watch for more information to come, and if you have questions, feel free to call the MCCC at 304-363-0442.
We hope this brings some joy to our local economy and to you as we enter the holiday season. From all of us at the Marion County Chamber of Commerce, we wish you and your families a safe and healthy Thanksgiving.
