Good morning, Mannington

Summer has finally arrived and we have had two or three dry and warm days. It also time to get ready for the Fourth of July. Be careful driving, but have you noticed the lilies along the roads or in fields in the area? This must be their year, for they are beautiful.

Enjoy the warmer temperatures and stay safe.

Cake Walk cakes needed

The annual event will take place in Mannington on Thursday, July 4. The town is planning to hold the cake walk, but the organizers will need cakes. These must be either purchased, or a donation must be given to have one purchased.

If you wish to donate a cake, bring it to City Hall on July 3 or leave your monetary donation at City Hall any time. This will be a big help to those who will be helping with the cake walk. Come join the Fourth of July Celebration.

Fourth of July celebration

Do you want to enter the duck race? There will be ducks available to adopt to help as a fundraiser.

There will also be floating lanterns. The organizers plan to have paper lanterns with candles on them available for purchase in memory of others to float down the Buffalo. The ducks may be adopted for $5 each, and the floating lanterns may also be purchased for $5 each.

However, this year’s event will not have the hot air lanterns. There will also be music, games, and food beginning at 6 p.m. with fireworks later in the evening. The pool will also be open for enjoyment.

Plan to come to Hough Park for fun and entertainment.
