Coming this fall is the new Marion County Library Express. It will be located in the Tygart Commons at the new White Hall Public Safety Building (next to Tygart Valley Cinema).

It will be open 24/7. Patrons can browse the collection, pick up holds, and return their items — all at one convenient kiosk.

Rabies Clinic

A Rabies Clinic will be held at McCurdysville Community Building on Saturday, Aug. 3, from 9 a.m. to Noon. Rabies shots will be $7, while dewormers and other vaccines will be at reduced rates.

Dogs must be on leashes and cats must be in carriers. James Henderson, DVM will administer the vaccinations, and all proceeds will benefit the McCurdysville Community Building.

Summer Gathering

The Marion County Genealogical Club will be having a summer gathering tomorrow, Tuesday, July 23. The meeting and lunch will be at the home of Patty and David Rowand, at 1509 Rose Ln., Pleasant Valley.

Please bring a covered dish, and chicken and drinks will be furnished.

87th Atha Family Reunion

The Atha Family Clan will be gathering for a “Genealogy Meeting” on Saturday, Aug. 3, at the Eat’n Park Restaurant in Bridgeport at 1 p.m. Pictures will be shared, family history will be discussed while visiting and lunch will be available.

The reunion will continue Sunday, Aug. 4, at the Smithtown Community Center, on old Route 73 between Fairmont and Morgantown. A covered dish lunch will be at Noon (drinks, plates, cups, and eating utensils will be provided), with activities for younger children, and visiting. There will also be a reunion business meeting.

Directions are: I-79 N Exit 139, turn left toward Exxon Station, turn right on Rt. 73, and proceed 4.1 miles to Smithtown School Road. Follow Atha Reunion signs.

White Hall Town Hall Meeting

The regular meeting will be held at the new Public Safety Building at 118 Tygart Mall Loop this evening at 7 p.m.

Mayor John Michael will open the ceremonies with the Pledge of Allegiance, prayer, call to order, roll call of officers, and approval of the minutes.

The treasurer and financial reports, communication (Municipal League, Fairview “thank you” card, and Marion County Chamber of Commerce Dinner), announcements, public hearing, and Public Safety Building reports are on the agenda. The police, legal, maintenance/public works, and Town Coordinator are next on the agenda.

— Consider approval of a request from First Exchange Bank for reimbursement costs to add a top (wearing) coat on portion of Heritage Way

Council Workshop

The Town of White Hall City Council will hold a workshop July 23, at 5 p.m. in the Training Room at the White Hall Public Safety Building at 118 Tygart Mall Loop. The meeting is open to the public.


The Bookmobile is available in White Hall on Wednesday, at the Middletown Commons from 9-10 a.m. (first and third week) and 10:30-11:30 a.m. (second and fourth week) near BB&T, and at NASA IV & V from Noon to 1 p.m. (back parking lot first and third week). The Library phone is 366-1211.
