Good morning, Mannington. The calendar does not say that summer has begun, but with Memorial Day, most feel that summer is here. For those traveling, be careful, no matter if you are coming to Mannington or going away for the weekend. Hope everyone has a great weekend, stay safe.
Congratulations to our graduates of North Marion High School and all other graduates of the area. You have made a step forward in your life and everyone is very proud of you. Good luck as you continue your journey, no matter what the direction. If you are planning private parties over the next few days, please be careful. Many are glad that high school is over, but someday you may say, why did it go so fast. Again Congratulations.

100 Years of Camping
Many years ago, or a few years ago, did you spend a week camping at Marion County’s Camp Mar-Mac? If you were a 4-H member, you may have spent one week in summer at this small camp in the hills near Farmington.
Those attending took part in sporting events, crafts, projects, tribal activities, council circles and more. Renewing friendship and making new friends, learning to live together in cabins was part of the few days of being away from family.
Well, a reunion is planned to celebrate 100 years of Camping at Camp Mar-Mac Saturday, July 6. Camp Mar-Mac is located at 437 Camp Rd., Farmington.
Activities include photo display, camp tours, reflections, tribal meetings, council circle and much more. There have been changes made but the memories will still be there when you drive up to the camp.
Registration will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. with a $20 per person registration fee. Lunch and dinner will be included in this fee. Spouses and children are welcome to attend, children must be supervised by an adult guardian. The event will conclude following the evening council circle.
For information or to register for this event please contact the West Virginia University Extension Service of Marion County at (304) 367-2772 or on Facebook at Camp Mar-Mac Association.
Plan to attend, you might find you folks you knew as Tribal members or cabin mates.
