News from the Town:

Mayor Yvonne Liberto is asking if anyone out there would have any decorations they may no longer be using or they would loan to use for the Riverfront. Items such as blowup decorations or anything that could set up to decorate the area around the tree. The mayor can be contacted at (304) 278-5301 if you would like to help out.

I would like to congratulate those who worked together to make the first “Small Business Saturday” Craft and Vendor show held at the Rivesville Community Building a success. Hopefully another will be held next year.

News from the school:

Principal Tyson Furgason would like to thank all who make the “Stuff the Bus” a success by all the donations that were received. A big thank you to Rick and Linda Parker for their continued support and generosity. Also a big thank you goes out to the Rivesville PTO for all their support and dedication. Furgason stated it would be nice to see some new faces when the meeting is held in January. The meeting is normally held the first Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Come out and lend your support. A meeting will be held on Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. for any interested parents of 7th & 8th grade students, plans will be discussed for 8th grade graduation. The Christmas program for the school will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday Dec. 18, doors will open at 12:30 p.m. No school on Dec. 20 due to Professional Learning Day, school will resume on Jan. 2, 2020. The principals and staff of Rivesville Elementary/Middle would like to wish everyone a safe and Happy Holiday.

Rivesville United Methodist Church is now taking orders for their delicious Christmas Cookie Trays. The cost is $8 for two dozen homemade cookies. Orders can be placed until Dec. 15. pickup day is Saturday, Dec. 21, time will be announced. To place an order call Bonnie at (304) 278-5817, Dee at (304) 278-5001 or Roxann at (304) 777-0540

Grant Town EMS will hold a “Friends Giving” dinner on Dec. 15 from Noon-3 the Grant Town Community Building. The meal will consist of turkey, stuffing, potatoes, rolls,green beans and dessert. This is a free dinner and everyone is welcome. For more information, call (304) 278-7777. or like them on Facebook for more events.

If anyone is interested I still have a few DNR calendars left. These make nice little gifts for that sports person in your life or to anyone who would enjoy the beautiful pictures in them. The cost is $10 and all proceeds go to Relay for Life Survivors dinner, give me a call at (304) 777-0540.

12/8: Rivesville Baptist Church invites everyone to their Christmas program which will be held Sunday, Dec. 8 at 5 p.m. The children, teens, college age and others have worked hard to present a program that is both pleasing to God and presents the Gospel. This year’s program is “The Christmas Story.” Come join in as they travel back in time to that first Christmas long ago. Refreshments will follow. 12/14: The Rivesville VFD will hold a Christmas party for the kids at 6 p.m. with the guest of honor being Santa Claus. Be sure and mark your calendar.

12/22: Rivesville Baptist also invites you to join them for their Christmas Candlelight Service Sunday December 22 at 7 p.m. Take time to enjoy the the beauty of our Lord and Savior through scriptures and the singing of wonderful Christmas songs.

12/24: Rivesville United Methodist Church invites everyone to their Christmas Eve Service beginning at 6:30 p.m.

12/31: There will be a family-oriented New Year’s Eve gathering at the McCurdysville Community Building from 8 p.m.-midnight. There will be games, music, snacks etc., bring a game and a covered dish and join in the fun. No alcoholic beverages are permitted or available. 1/11: The RVFD will have a CPR class on Jan. 11, 2020 starting at 9 a.m., those interested can contact Chief Josh Speicher at (304) 376-5810 or Capt. Bobby Lemley at (304) 694-8802. The class is limited to 15 people so get your reservation in ASAP.

1/11: The Rivesville Foundation will host an Elimination Dinner on Jan. 11, 2020 at the Rivesville Community Building, the tickets are $30 and can be purchased by calling Frank Moore at (304) 657-9121. I will have more information about the Foundation and what they do in the near future.
