Hope everyone is well and had a safe and Happy Thanksgiving.
News from the town:
Mayor Yvonne Liberto is asking if anyone out there would have any decorations they may no longer be using or they would loan to use for the Riverfront. Items such as blowup decorations or anything that could set up to decorate the area around the tree. The mayor can be contacted at (304) 278-5301 if you would like to help out.
Today is “ Shop Small Business Saturday” and I hope you get out and show your appreciation to the small businesses around us.
There is a Vendor and Craft fair at the Rivesville Community Building at 200 Jasper St. from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. today. Food will also be available. I hear a special guest in a red suit will make an appearance from Noon-1 p.m. Come browse around and be musically entertained by Kenny West from 2 p.m. and B.J. Smith( my son) from 3-4 p.m. While there you can order you’re DVD “Feast of the Seven Fishes.” DVD’s are around $21. There is no admission fee, hope to see you there.
While you are out, travel over to Clayton Street and visit Assumption Records small business owners Noelle and Patrick Kolb.
Rivesville United Methodist Church is now taking orders for delicious Christmas Cookie Trays. The cost is $8 for two dozen homemade cookies. Orders can be placed until Dec. 15. Pickup day is Saturday, Dec. 21, time will be announced. To place an order, call Bonnie at (304) 278-5817, Dee at (304) 278-5001 or Roxann at (304) 777-0540. I put the wrong amount in last weeks column.
Highland Avenue Church is taking orders for meatballs and sauce. Meatballs are: 16/$20, 24/$30, 32/$40 and 40/$50, sauce is $7 a quart. Orders can be placed by calling Ron at (304) 363-1778, Dec. 5 is the deadline. All proceeds are going toward the church budget.
Grant Town EMS will hold a “Friends Giving” dinner on Dec. 15 from Noon until 3 p.m.at the Grant Town Community Building. The meal will consist of turkey, stuffing, potatoes, rolls, green beans and dessert. This is a free dinner and everyone is welcome. 12/8 – Rivesville Baptist Church invites everyone to their Christmas program which will be held Sunday, Dec. 8 at 5 p.m. The children, teens, college age and others have worked hard to present a program that is both pleasing to God and presents the Gospel. This year’s program is “The Christmas Story: Come join in as they travel back in time to that first Christmas long ago. Refreshments will follow. 12/14 – The Rivesville VFD will hold a Christmas party for the kids at 6 p.m. with the guest of honor being Santa Claus. Be sure and mark your calendar.
12/22 – Rivesville Baptist also invites you to join them for their Christmas Candlelight Service Sunday, Dec. 22 at 7 p.m. Take time to enjoy the beauty of our Lord and Savior through scriptures and the singing of wonderful Christmas songs.
12/31 – There will be a family oriented New Year’s Eve gathering at the McCurdysville Community Building from 8 p.m.-Midnight. There will be games, music, snacks etc., bring a game and a covered dish and join in the fun. No alcoholic beverages are permitted or available. 1/11- The RVFD will have a CPR class on Jan. 11, 2020 starting at 9 a.m., those interested can contact Chief Josh Speicher at (304) 376-5810 or Captain Bobby Lemley at (304) 694-8802. The class is limited to 15 people so get your reservation in ASAP.
1/11- The Rivesville Foundation will host an Elimination Dinner on Jan. 11, 2020 at the Rivesville Community Building, mark your calendar and I will have more information soon.
