The No. 2 Fairmont Senior Polar Bears came into Wednesday’s meeting with cross-town rival East Fairmont sporting a perfect 12-0 record on the season, while the Bees were 7-4.

That sounds like a mismatch on paper, but when these two teams hook up, you can throw the records out the window.

The packed house at the Woody Williams Armory witnessed another classic meeting between these two rivals as the Polar Bears survived a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Evan Gorman to get past the Bees in overtime, 69-65.

“What’s exciting for us is we are learning how to play in different situations,” Fairmont Senior head coach David Retton said.
