After a four-run comeback Wednesday night, the Fairmont 10-11 All-Stars fell Thursday, 9-0 to Jefferson, eliminating them from the state tournament.

Fairmont stranded three runners in the first inning and a pair of errors on top of three hits in the bottom of the inning gave Jefferson County a 4-0 lead.

In the second inning only Jacob Monell could reach base on an error before being stranded to end the second for Fairmont. Three more hits and a Andy Disque home run put Jefferson up 8-0 after two.

Tanner Barnes and Ryan Ricer reached base safely but once again were left on base for Fairmont.

Robbie Potesta would be the only Fairmont batter to reach first safely in the fourth. Jefferson would score one run in the bottom half of the inning on a pair of doubles by Paul Witt and Charlie Barnholt. In the top half of fifth Fairmont left a pair of runners on base.

Jefferson will now face South Charleston, which defeated Bridgeport 8-7 in seven innings.
