Dakota fire

This house on Dandelion Lane in Dakota was destroyed by fire early Friday morning.

DAKOTA — A house on Dandelion Lane near Rivesville is a total loss after an early Friday morning fire, according to the brother of the homeowner.

David Runion said his brother, Butch, owns the home on the private drive in the Dakota area, and was renting it out to a man, who was not home at the time of the fire.

Runion said the woodframe house was destroyed, but the cause isn’t known.

He and another man at the scene said the flames were as high as a tall tree by the house at one point. On Friday afternoon, a post beside the home was still smoking.

According to Runion, no one was injured and two dogs in the home were able to get out safely.

Marion County 911 said the call for the fire went out at 5:05 a.m. The Rivesville Volunteer Fire Department responded to the blaze, according to 911.

There was no estimate given regarding the cost of the damage.
