North Marion High School football coach Daran Hays has no doubt that linebacker Kaleb Cunningham’s best football lies ahead.

It will come as part of an Alderson-Broaddus football program that is reviving the sport at the Philippi school this year for the first time since 1930. Cunningham signed with the Battlers Wednesday afternoon in a ceremony at the North Marion library.

“It’s pretty exciting to be able to step on the field as a team that has never been on the field before, being with a bunch of new guys, a lot of freshmen, just people I’ve played against and know,” the 6-foot, 220-pound Cunningham said.
