After a winless start, the North Marion boys’ soccer team needed a victory in the worst way.
Tuesday night, the Huskies finally broke through on the positive side. And they did it against a county rival, using a pair of first-half goals en route to a 2-1 win over East Fairmont.
“I think our energy was up. The kids were hungry to get their first win,” North Marion coach Josh Barker said. “That (first win) is big for them. We have a young team and this really is a confidence boost.”
North (1-3-1) wasted little time getting started Tuesday, getting a goal from freshman Dylan Leary about 15 minutes into the game. Junior Cayson Mattern netted the Huskies’ other score to give the team a 2-0 lead by halftime.
