Michael Belmear will officially retire from Fairmont State University on July 9 after 33 years helping students succeed.
Throughout that time, he’s held many titles, including the one he’s retiring with: vice president for Student Services and Student Affairs.
He began as an admissions officer and counselor at FSU in 1978. Until that time, he was an admissions counselor at West Virginia University, but Fairmont State offered him more money and the chance to become a counselor, helping students with their problems.
