Police have arrested a suspect following an investigation of the robbery of a jewelry store on Fairmont Avenue.
Fairmont police detectives arrested Chad David Buchholtz, 52, of Fairmont, Wednesday on charges of grand larceny and breaking and entering. According to the criminal complaint, Buchholtz broke out the glass window of Carlos Fine Jewelry on Aug. 4 to get into the building.
Buchholtz allegedly had to bend two metal bars out of his way to make entrance. He reportedly had removed the electric meter from the outside wall beforehand to prevent the security system from alerting owners and police.
Once inside, Buchholtz allegedly broke the display cases to get at their contents, stealing more than $1,500 worth of watches, earrings, rings and bracelets.
