The Marion County Board of Education is helping fund a wide variety of school maintenance and security projects.

In November, the board used carryover monies to give each school in the county $10,000 to go toward safety or facility upgrades.

At Tuesday night’s regular session of the board, Superintendent of Schools Gary Price said the schools have reported what types of projects they anticipate the money going toward.

Based on their individual needs, the schools will spend the funds on various improvements, which could include bell systems, lighting, roof repairs, playground resurfacing and more.
