A man killed in a construction accident on Bellview Avenue Tuesday was identified by Fairmont Police.

Timothy O’Keefe, 42, was killed when a ladder he was placing against a home at the intersection of Bellview Avenue and Fulton Street struck an electrically charged source, according to the report released by the Fairmont Police Department.

Another worker was helping O’Keefe with the aluminum ladder when the accident occurred. That worker was transported to Fairmont General Hospital for a medical evaluation.

Emergency responders with the Marion County Rescue squad and the Fairmont Fire Department attempted life-saving techniques on O’Keefe after responding to the scene. However, they were unsuccessful. The Fairmont Police Department also responded to the scene.

The accident occurred at approximately 11 a.m. The accident is being investigated by the West Virginia State Medical Examiner’s office, the Fairmont City Police, the Fairmont Building Inspector, and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, according to the report.
