Council members concerned about murder

Law enforcement agents continue to search for the gun used in the shooting of Christopher Ray Martin, who was killed last Friday.

City council members have expressed some concern about last week’s murder and want to brainstorm ideas and policies needed to combat crime.

Samuel David Rollins, 18, of Fairmont, was arrested Friday and charged with the first-degree murder of Christopher Ray Martin, 21, of Fairmont.

According to the criminal complaint, Rollins fired several shots while he was chasing Martin down a private driveway onto Fourth Street in the 800 block near Nuzum Street around 5 p.m. Rollins fled the scene, but turned himself into police late Friday at the corner of Fourth and Walnut streets.

Police continue to search for the gun used in the incident.
