Curtis Thorne II loves cats.
Even better than that, from the cats’ standpoint, he loves to feed them.
So that’s what he has been doing for about eight years now, or since he has been a resident of the East Unity apartments.
He’s not in any competition with the Marion County Humane Society. That group does not pick up cats — only dogs.
You may have seen him on most any evening at the corner of Quincy Street and Ogden Avenue around 5:30 or 6 feeding a large group of cats.
“I’m going to do this as long as I can,” he said when asked how long his project would last.
What happens then?
“I don’t know,” he replied. “I literally do not know. But I’ll do it until they start tearing the old Fairmont Theatre down.”
