Four new candidates have filed to run for Fairmont City Council this week: Rob Linger in the 3rd District, Richard “Rick” McElroy and Fran Warner in the 5th District, and Jeremiah Rivera in the 7th District.

The city council election will be held in conjunction with the Nov. 4 general election.

The filing period for Fairmont City Council will remain open through Aug. 6. Interested residents living in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 8th and 9th Districts should come down to file in person to the city clerk’s office on the third floor of the J. Harper Meredith Building. They will need to pay a $15 fee, and Janet Keller, Fairmont city clerk, will confirm the filer’s voter registration for that district.

As of the end of the day Thursday, 15 had filed: 1st District, Marianne Moran; 2nd District, Frank Yann, Michael Ragen; 3rd District, Rob Linger; 5th District, David Ice, Bill Fincham, Houston Richardson, Richard “Rick” McElroy, Fran Warner; 7th District, Jamie Greene, Roger D. Curry, Jeremiah Rivera; 8th District, Tom Mainella; and 9th District, Ron Straight, Kandi Nuzum.
