The recounting of the ballots for the position of Monongah mayor is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the town hall.
Mayor Don Harris requested the recount last week following the canvassing of the votes from the municipal election. The results of the election, which was held June 11, showed incumbent Harris receiving 59 votes while candidate Bill McCombs received 60. John Boy Palmer totaled 56 votes, Pat DeFazio had 14 votes and Dan Wood had 12 votes.
“I wanted a recount because only one vote will make a difference,” Harris said after officially filing for the recount.
