Dr. Maria Rose, president of Fairmont State University, was recognized by the East Fairmont High School Foundation on Friday night during the EFHS and Nicholas County football game. Here she takes part in the pre-game coin toss. A four-year renewable scholarship will now be awarded annually in the amount of $1,000 to an EFHS graduate who will attend FSU.

Fairmont State University President Dr. Maria Rose was all smiles when she stepped out on the field at the East Fairmont High School and Nicholas County High School football game on Friday night.

From her days at State Street Elementary School, to graduation at EFHS, and now as president at Fairmont State University, Rose has established a reputation in the community that the EFHS Foundation felt needed to be recognized.

On the field, she received a congratulatory certificate on behalf of the foundation for her presidency at FSU, an achievement that no EFHS graduate can match.

“As an East Fairmont alumna, I am truly humbled to be honored by the EFHS Foundation,” Rose said on Friday afternoon. “As a proud member of the Class of 1966, I can say that the education I received at EFHS helped me build the foundation for my career and my life.”
