Officials with the Frank and Jane Gabor Folklife Center will be looking for some Irish luck in the land where it’s made this summer.

The center, located on the shared campus of Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College, started its Roads to Appalachia program in 2005.

Dr. Judy Byers, executive director of the center, said it’s been a popular program with the students and the community and has fostered a lot of learning in the past years.

Basically, a trip is planned, and there are seminars and educational sessions leading up to the trip. Then, when participants get to the country, they can experience the lessons firsthand.

The program began with a trip to Ireland, then southern Italy, England and Wales, Eastern Europe and Germany and Switzerland.
