A Mount Hope police officer accused of burglary and other crimes has been acquitted of the last two of eight charges against him.

Fayette County Circuit Judge John Hatcher found Corporal Thomas C. Lowe of Fayetteville not guilty Thursday of two counts of daytime burglary.

At Lowe’s request, Hatcher served as judge and jury for all eight of the charges filed against him.

Last October, Hatcher acquitted Lowe on charges of extortion and attempt to commit bribery in an official capacity, calling it the weakest case he had seen in 17 years on the bench. In July, Hatcher dismissed four sex-related charges levied by the same woman.

Lowe joined the Mount Hope Police Department in 2001. He has been on paid administrative leave since his May 2006 arrest.
