FAIRMONT – A 30-year-old Fairmont man faces one count of drug possession with intent to manufacture or deliver after an investigation by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Officials booked Anika Rashedia Desilva, of 10 Locust Ave., Apt. F on Sept. 8 after obtaining a warrant for his arrest.
The investigation began on Aug. 29 when deputies went to Desilva’s apartment to serve an eviction notice. Police previously charged Desilva’s roommate Faatima Aisha Jones, and charged her with the same felony.
According to the criminal complaint, on Aug. 22, police found what they described as a drug operation in the apartment.
“Deputies observed marijuana, digital scales and packaging materials in plain view,” states the complaint. “A black safe was observed beside of these items. A search warrant was obtained for this safe and items consistent with the sales of heroin, methamphetamine and crack cocaine were located inside of it.”
Police also found “multiple loaded handguns,” pieces of crack cocaine wrapped for sale, containers of heroin and “a large piece of crystal methamphetamine.”
In lieu of posting a $25,024 bond, Desilva is being held in the North Central Regional Jail.
