ATM BcBank on E Park Ave in Fairmont temporarily closed Monday while Fairmont Police Department collected preliminary data after a possible bank robbery, according to a detective on the scene. The detective said there was no reason to suspect the public was in any immediate danger.
According to a Facebook post by the Fairmont Police Department, a call came at 10:48 a.m. that a male had entered the bank and demanded money with the threat of a weapon. The male was described in the post as white, between 40-50 years of age and between 6-feet to 6-feet-2-inches tall with “salt and pepper hair, salt and pepper goatee,” wearing a grey long sleeve shirt with blue jeans, a black Under Armour ball cap, a blue bandana, and tennis shoes.
While the Fairmont Police Department stated in its post the suspect left the bank on foot, it also stated that a possible suspect vehicle is a red and black cruiser-style motorcycle that traveled toward I-79.
The police are requesting anyone with information about seeing the suspect in the area around the time of the incident call 911 or the city police at 304-366-4200.
