Cliche as it is, one motto holds true when it comes to high school wrestling in late February.
It really is not how you start but how you finish.
In the past, there’s been myriad stories of wrestlers losing in regionals, only to bounce back and place at the state tournament — or even win the whole darn thing.
But at the same time, where you start might be equally important as the how.
That’s certainly the case for numerous Marion County wrestlers going into this week’s state meet in Huntington.
In all, the area crowned three Region II champs in the East Fairmont duo of Garrett Onderko and Jesse Roman and North Marion’s Brooks Russell on Saturday. But on top of that, it boasted eight second-place finishers in Hedgesville.
