MANNINGTON —Singer Darryl Worley took those country roads to the Mannington District Fair Friday evening.
Taking the stage, he seemed at home with the audience.
“We love to get close to the folks,” he said. “It’s like my daddy said, ‘they pay your electric bill.’”
Noting his wife is from West Virginia, he said he sent her some pictures and videos Friday.
“She wishes that she was here,” he said, noting “it’s really hot and humid where we’re from.”
He said she thought it was “easier to breathe” here.
Worley’s playlist included “I Miss My Friends,” which he said was a No. 1 song. His other Number 1s include, “Have You Forgotten,?” and “Awful, Beautiful Life.”
Drema Bragg came from Hundred to see Worley.
“It’s great,” she said about the performance.
She said she’s been a fan for a long time.
She couldn’t name a favorite song.
“Don’t ask me that, I like them all,” she said.
She added that she liked Worley’s Christian songs.
Lisa Hayes of Fairmont thought the concert was “very good.”
“I love it,” she said.
She thought he “sounds like he always has.”
Hayes hoped that Worley would play “Have You Forgotten?”
