Sophie Shelosky, 90, of Monongah, passed away Sunday (July 19, 2009) at the Arbors at Fairmont.

Sophie was born Oct. 17, 1918, at Hoult, daughter of the late Adam Dudiak and Sophie (Shamala) Dudiak.

Sophie was a former 40-year employee of St. Barbara’s Nursing Home in Monongah and a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Monongah.

Sophie was the last surviving member of the Dudiak family.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews, Robert Raymond and wife Susan of Fairmont, Shirley Dodd of Idamay, John Koval and wife Sandy of Ohio, Rosemary Paglario and husband Carmen of Monongah, Larry Koval and wife Cynthia of Ohio, Emanuel Canjar and wife Angie of Florida, Mathew Canjar and wife Karen of North Carolina, Tom Shelosky and wife Phyllis of Monongah, Rebecca Carvillano of Fairmont, Barbara Sheloski and husband Eric Wills of California and Bernie Sheloski and wife Linda of Monongah. Several great-nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents, Sophie was preceded in death by her husband, George Walter Shelosky Jr. on Sept. 22, 2005; two brothers, John and Frank Dudiak; and two sisters, Mary Raymond and Anna Koval.

Family and friends may call at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave., Fairmont, today from 6 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 1 to 9 p.m. Vigil service will be Wednesday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home with Father John Mulcahy officiating. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Monongah with Father John Mulcahy as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Monongah.
