BRIDGEPORT - Robert C. Byrd was pressured and pushed around for four quarters by the No. 2 Fairmont Senior Lady Polar Bears.

FSHS won 71-34 to move into the girls’ championship game of the EQT Energy Classic in Bridgeport.

The Lady Bears used their relentless trap defense and ran the Lady Eagles ragged with their transition game.

Fairmont Senior pushed its lead north of 30 in just 14 minutes of play and led 46-15 at halftime. The team closed the half on an 11-0 run.

The second half was more of the same with FSHS continuing to pad its lead until the final whistle.

Erica Bowles led FSHS with 19 points while Emily Stoller finished with 16. Karen Whaley and Ty Horton each tallied 11 points.

With the win, FSHS improved to 6-2 on the season and have now won five straight. The team will play for a tournament championship on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. against either East Fairmont or Bridgeport.
