Brent Dodrill faced two batters of the minimum and fired a no-hitter against Garfield, Va., to lead West Fairmont to a 13-0 win in five innings Thursday at the Hawaiian Tropic Tournament.

The only two baserunners Dodrill allowed resulted in a walk and an error. The left-hander recorded eight strikeouts. Dodrill also helped his own cause at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run scored, including a double.

Drew Retton also doubled, scored two runs and had four RBI. Patrick Thompson was 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI while Garrett Fetty singled twice. Joey Buonaiuto singled with a RBI and scored twice. Chris Turner singled and scored two runs. Mark Gardner and Nick Smith each scored a run.

The Polar Bears broke open a 1-0 game after three innings with a four-run fourth followed by an eight-run fifth to win by the mercy rule.

West (6-4) plays either Lake City, S.C. or Elkins at 4:30 p.m. today. If the Polar Bears win that game, they will play again on Saturday before returning home.
