East Fairmont’s boys’ soccer team defeated North Marion, 2-0, in a hard-fought game at East-West Stadium.

Neither team managed to score a goal in the first half of play, but East’s Vinny Roman put two balls into the net in the second half to provide the final outcome.

Roman scored the first off an assist from Nolan Harvath. His second came on when he returned a goal kick back past the North Marion keeper.

Garrett Saiko earned his second shutout in goal for East.

The Bees, now 3-1 in the North Central Athletic Conference, will take on West Fairmont on Thursday.

West soccer splits with B-U

BUCKHANNON — Joey Buonaiuto scored a pair of goals to lead West Fairmont to its first NCAC win, 4-0 over Buckhannon.

Brooks Nucilli put the Bears on the board with a header off a Vinny Romano assist.

Bradley Cox put in the final goal for the Polar Bears.

Corey Cleavenger picked up the shutout in goal and was aided by Dylan Leeson, Johnathan Haun, Garrett Fetty and Joe Shaw on the defensive end.

West’s girls team fell to Buckhannon-Upshur, 1-0.
