East Fairmont’s softball team won the North Central Athletic Conference with a 12-2 record, by virtue of a tiebreaker over University, which also finished with a 12-2 mark.

With another NCAC title in hand, East Fairmont head coach Chuck Fluharty was named as the conference Coach of the Year. Bee pitcher Rachel Filius was named the conference’s Pitcher of the Year.

University’s Sherry Finkel was named the NCAC Player of the Year.

East placed four players on all-conference first team: Seniors Cari Baker and Brittany Zivkovic, junior Ashley Morris and sophomore Allie Mayle.

West Fairmont had three players named to the first team — Nicole Crane, who was all-NCAC first team last year, Kayla Tennant and Emily Keener.

North Marion’s Terra Franks was the Huskies’ lone first-teamer.

Other first team selections include: University’s Stephanie Smith and Kylie Beboul, Morgantown’s Desiree Smith and Kelsey Rufft, Preston’s Kendra Wiles and Elkins’ Kayla Smith.

West Fairmont and North Marion had one player each named to the second team. The Bears’ representative was Kendra Feltz, and the Huskies’ was Jamie Stackhouse. Other second-team members were: University’s Nicole Gardner, Morgantown’s Kaitlin Buchannnon and Britnee Mathes, Preston’s Kayla Huggins and Caitlin Martin, Elkins’ Ashley Nida and Carrie Johnson, and Buckhannon-Upshur’s Brittaney Johnson and Chelsie McGrew.

Players earning special honorable mention were: East Fairmont’s Kayla Field and Diana Ruggiero, West Fairmont’s Molly Simis, North Marion’s Alyssa Pena and Latasha Piggott, University’s Amanda Colebank and Stephanie VanKirk, Morgantown’s Cara Siggie and Callista McNair, Preston’s Shera Bishop and Brandi Naylor, Elkins’ Megan White and Kristin Crosston, and Buckhannon’s Brianna Blake.

Those earning all-NCAC honorable mention were: East Fairmont’s Kate Wiles and Leesa Jackson, West Fairmont’s Lisa Cattafesta and Mary Donato, North Marion’s Brittney Nestor and Lauren Haught, University’s Skylar Assif and Megan Kulchock, Morgantown’s Jenny Whitener and Stephanie Nicholson, Preston’s Krista Kisner and Johnna Zeigler, and Elkins’ Brittney Miller and Heather Haynes.
