The eight annual East Fairmont High School Foundation Golf Tournament is fast approaching.

The tournament will be held July 14 at Bel Meadow Golf Course in Mt. Clare, just south of Clarksburg. The tournament rotates between several area courses each year.

It will be a four-person team, 18-hole shotgun scramble. Registration will be from 11:30 a.m.-noon, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.

A $10,000 hole-in-one prize is part of the tournament according to committee member Archie Cain.

The $10,000 prize is being presented by WesBanco Insurance Services and Bruce Martin. It will be for a hole-in-one on a designated hole during the tournament.

Organizers have also lined up another hole-in-one reward — a 2006 Dodge Charger, presented by Urse Dodge Chrysler Jeep Dealership and owner Robert Urse.

Both prizes will only be awarded on for an ace on the designated holes with a tournament witness present.

There is a 40 minimum handicap per team and maximum 28 handicap per individual. USGA format will be used for scoring and awards. Lunch and awards ceremony will be held in the clubhouse following the tournament.

The registration deadline has been extended to July 6. The event is limited to the first 144 paid golfers. Checks should be made payable to EFHS Foundation.

Registration and handicap may be mailed to Archie Cain, chairman, 201 Homewood Ave., Fairmont, WV 26554.

The proceeds from this event are going to the Foundation for in-school teacher/student enhancements and scholarship support. The past seven annual tournaments have helped many students the same way.

Committee members include Cain, Kevin Rogers, Donald Furbee, Jerry Wood, Dale Barth, Robert Kenney and several other helpers.
