West Virginia University’s baseball team will be seeking revenge at 7:05 p.m. today when it plays Maryland at Hawley Field.

The Terps eked out a 10-8 victory over West Virginia in an earlier nonconference contest at College Park, Md.

WVU is coming off a 10-8 victory at Georgetown on Sunday. That followed a pair of one-run losses to the Hoyas and prevented a sweep.

It gave this year’s team 30 wins for the 10th time in school history. The Moun-taineers have 17 losses.

They are 10-11 in Big East play and among contenders for the eight spots in the conference’s postseason tournament.

Infielder Justin Jenkins and outfielder Casey Bowling share the batting lead among WVU regulars at .396. Jenkins has 10 home runs and 44 runs batted in, Bowling six homers and 33 RBI.

Maryland (22-30) dropped two of three games at Boston College over the weekend. Dan Melvin tops the Terps with a .332 batting average, five home runs and 25 RBI.

WVU coach Greg Van Zant is expected to send junior left-hander Brendan Bergerson (3-0, 2.86 ERA) to the mound. He has 21 strikeouts in 22 innings.

Casey Baron, also a southpaw, is Maryland’s probable starter. He has a 1-5 record and 5.10 ERA.

WVU will return to Big East action this weekend in a three-game series at Cincinnati.
