North Marion went on the road and defeated Preston 67-62 on Wednesday. It was the No. 7-ranked Huskies' fifth straight win to move to 18-2 on the season.
Gunner Murphy once again led the way for the Huskies with 23 points, but got plenty of assistance from the forward duo of Michael Garrett and Praise Chukwudozie. Garrett scored 18 points, with 11 of those coming in the second quarter alone, while Chukwudozie added 14 points.
The Murphy-Garrett-Chukwudozie trio combined for 55 of the team's 67 points.
Tariq Miller and Ethan Darden each added another six points, with Darden coming off the bench to drill a pair of 3s in the third quarter.
Jaden Fultz scored a team-high 21 points for Preston, exploding with 20 of those points in the second half. He tallied nine points in the third quarter and then poured in 11 more points in the fourth as the Knights made a furious late rally. Preston outscored North Marion 27-17 in the fourth period after trailing 50-35 through three quarters.
Nick Smith scored another 19 points for the Knights, while Austin Metheny added 11 points.
